MARRAKECH WITH FAMILY!
Celia, Quique and their one year old baby, had their first trip all together to Morocco. They will spent three days in the magical Marrakech. They tell us about their experience!
What do you think about Marrakech?
We loved it! It’s a very interesting destination to spend a 3-4 days trip. It’s a safe city, with good weather and a huge offer of hotels, accomodation and restaurants.
Which activities did you do?
We visited the main places of interest: Djema el Fnaa Square, the Souk, the Koutobia Mosque, the Majorelle and Menara Gardens, the Bahía Palais… We also tried a hammam and we enjoyed with the traditional gastronomy.
Is Morocco the way you imagined it?
Overall yes but we are aware that we still have a lot to discover, we will be back for sure!
Was it the first time you traveled with your baby?
Yes, we only made small weekend getaways around Barcelona
How was the experience of traveling with such a small child to Marrakech?
Overall it was a positive experience, traveling with children makes everything more complicated and you aren’t 100% free to do whatever you please. To enjoy it you have to keep an open attitude and try to adapt to the different situations. People from Marrakech are very friendly and understanding people, in the Riad they adapted everything to the baby’s needs.
Maybe the most uncomfortable thing were the walks around the city as there were motorbikes constantly crossing and that made impossible to walk quietly with the baby. But at every step you find restaurants and large patios where you can stop, have a tea and let the baby move freely.
What did you like most about Marrakech?
What surprised us the most was that being such a close destinations, there is an important cultural contrast. We find it very enriching for both children and adults. It also has a great architectural beauty and you have the feeling of travelling to the past.
What did you think of the food? What dish did you like the most?
The food is very good although after 5-6 meals it gets a bit repetitive. The dishes we enjoyed the most were the vegetable Tajin, the Couscous and the Moroccan pastries with mint tea.
